observant and quiet, but will speak his mind in important matters. He tends
to rely more on himself than help from above, and it takes an extended amount
of time before he trusts others. Ilias also has a dislike for war, but will
willingly jump into the fray to provide assistance and protection. |

HISTORY
| 2338 | Born into an internment camp on the planet Bajor during the Cardassian
Occupation. Ilias was born into a family with deep ties to the various resistance
movements in the region. |
| 2343 | Ilias begins to secretly receive basic education from his parents and
others within the camp. He is also forced to start working in the farms to increase
the output of grain used to support the Cardassians on world. |
| 2349 | During a raid of a Cardassian communications array, Marek Nuri is killed,
and Ona loses both of her legs to an explosion. The bomb that was originally
intended to go off after everyone was clear of the array, but for some reason
the bomb went off early. Many of the Bajorans in the resistance cell suspected
foul play, but could not find any evidence that could lead them to a saboteur. |
| 2352 | Ilias begins to train under Harma, a weapon smith who has acted as a
surrogate father to Ilias since his own father's death. The young boy begins
to learn the use of firearms like many others his age, but also becomes versed
in construction and repair. |
| 2357 | Several resistance cells gather in cave underground to plan a major
assault on a Cardassian command post in the region. Ilias meets a woman named
Yenene from another cell, and they become quick friends. During the months of
planning, they quickly grew to become lovers, and planned on marrying. During
the actual assault, however, Yenene is captured and later publicly executed
along with several others to douse resistance. |
| 2359 | Ilias becomes a leader in weapons development by combining Bajoran and
Cardassian technology. These more effective weapons prove vital in winning several
battles. |
| 2365 | Slowly, the Cardassians have been losing ground. Many internment camps
have been closed due to the inability of the Cardassians to hold several regions.
The crude guerilla war the Bajorans have waged has finally taken its toll on
the non-native Cardassians. Unable to hold ground, the Cardassians begin to
pull back to key cities and zones. |
| 2369 | The Cardassians finally pull off-world and leave Bajor for good. The
Bajorans take possession of Terok Nor, and release the miners aboard. The mining
station was heavily remodeled, and renamed Deep Space Nine to help rid the station
of any indications of prior Cardassian control. |
| 2370 | Ilias decides to leave Bajor after his mother dies. He finds he has
no more ties to his home, and decided to embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Having only known war all his life, he decides to talk to the UFP about applying
for employment as a civilian. Taking note of his extensive background in weapons
and tactics, the UFP offers him the chance to attend the Academy, and become
an officer in Starfleet. Seeing this as opportunity to get away from Bajor,
and forward his journey, he accepts. |
| 2374 | Ensign Marek graduates and is asked to continue his education in Advanced
Tactical Training School. Ilias, restless from the time already spent in the
Academy, mulls over the option. Starfleet offers Ilias with option to select
any open assignment he wishes upon his graduation from ATT School. Reluctantly,
he accepts in the hopes he will finally get to move amongst the stars again.
|
| 2376 | Ilias graduates ATT and is given the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.
He selects the USS Saber, the first Saber-Class starship as his first ship.
Lt. jg. Marek becomes the ship's junior Tactical Officer. |
| 2378 | At the end of his deployment on the USS Saber, Ilias is offered the
position of combined Chief of Security and Tactical Operations aboard the USS
Yeager, another Saber-Class vessel. Finding that this ship remained around Bajor
after the end of the Dominion War, he turned the offer down and asked to stay
aboard the USS Saber. |
| 2380 | Ilias is promoted to full Lieutenant after his second tour aboard the
USS Saber. He is offered the position of Chief of Security aboard a newly christened
Intrepid-Class starship with a more exploratory nature than the Saber-Class
ships. Lt. Marek accepts his new assignment. |
